Email marketing deliverability

I get all my bookings by email, so them hitting the spam folder was a nightmare. They made the whole thing simple and took care of everything.

I run an ecommerce store and had customers complain they weren’t getting their order emails. DNS Ninjas took care of everything and gave us a report. Now everything lands where it should. Super smooth experience.

Jamie L.
Ecommerce owner

My email open rates were strangely low and I didn’t realize that DNS caused it. Once they fixed things the difference was noticeable. My emails are finally getting seen.

Frequently Asked Questions

This depends on your level of experience with emails, domain name records (DNS) and how it all works.

If it’s all a bit too “geek” for you, choose DNS Sorted: we’ll take care of all your DNS records and run different checks to ensure your emails are authenticating. We can also help with your website emails and test your email newsletter or automation emails.

If you’ve been having problems with email delivery and your business website is critical (you receive ecommerce orders, or it’s your main marketing channel for most of your clients/customers), then choose Oh Sh!t. We run checks and test everything: business emails, website emails, newsletter emails, and then monitor their delivery over the next 60 days.

If you’re experienced with domains, websites and emails and want someone to double-check things, choose the Video Audit. This provides an overview of what we’ve analysed for your domain and what changes we suggest. If you provide us with your DNS zone file, then we can make these changes, and you can upload directly.

If you send emails on behalf of your business, then it is.

If you email a current or potential customer/client and they never receive it, then that’s bad. If your email ends up in their spam folder, and they don’t see it for days, that’s really bad.

Also, if a scammer sends emails spoofing your email address and they get through to a person’s email inbox, that can cause reputation damage and a potential loss of profits.

It’s worth double-checking that everything is ok with your email authentication and deliverability.

We do.

No matter what package you choose above, we will audit and advise you on what records aren’t aligned and require changing.

In the DNS sorted and Oh Sh!t packages, we make those corrections for you and test them. We’ll then provide you with a report on what’s been changed.

Yes, that’s what most people believe.

They do have guides for you to go through and set things up, but it isn’t going to be automatic with a business account. You have to add the records to your DNS settings and authenticate manually.

If you use a personal @gmail account, then all will be set up for you, but using a [email protected] account requires changes.

Maybe, but they specialise in website design and development, not email and their deliverability to people’s inboxes.

They might have added records to your DNS for your website, but did they configure everything with your business email account correctly? It’s worth checking.

And so you should be.

We don’t ask for usernames and passwords to login into your account(s). We’ll ask for delegate access or to be added as a user to the account so that we can make any necessary changes to your DNS records.

We use 2FA (two-factor authentication) on all accounts we log into and as soon as all of the processes are complete, we either remove ourselves as a user or remind you to remove us.

When setting up or deep auditing/testing SMTP setup, we’ll use a dedicated VPN to sign into your website/admin panel to perform any tasks and use a virtual keyboard or password manager to enter any credentials.

We can, where necessary, sign a subcontractor processor privacy agreement and provide information about international transfers of data (if we access data on your website admin panel then many different countries will deem that as “processing”).

We are located in Europe and are aware of & compliant with GDPR and DPA 2018.

We accept all major credit/debit cards. These are securely processed through Stripe, and we don’t store any card data on our website.

If you would like to pay via PayPal or ACH/Bank Transfer, please contact us.

It depends.

If your sender reputation is functional and your emails are engaging for the target audience, then checking through and correcting any misalignments in DKIM, SPF, and ultimately DMARC analysis, can help more emails reach recipients’ inboxes.

Even when SPF and DKIM are set up, we’ve found some marketing emails land in even Gmail’s spam folder because DMARC was misaligned.

The above packages are one-time fixes, but we also offer ongoing DMARC monitoring.

Every month, we’ll compile a report to explain what is happening with your email deliverability and correct any issues.

If you have a business with more than one person, this is beneficial: someone signs up for a service that will send emails on your behalf. If your DNS has already been configured and DMARC doesn’t pass (due to improper authentication), many emails may go to the spam/junk email folder.

Also, if it’s a busy ecommerce site, DMARC monitoring is important: order updates and dispatch notices not received? That could result in increased support requests, cancelled orders, delivery rejection, and increased chargebacks. All added costs against your profits.

Having ongoing monitoring can prevent that.

If your business website is live and no one can find you on Google, would that affect your business? Yes? Then our service will help: your business relies on the digital world to bring customers to your website and business.

It might be that our Video Audit gives you have peace of mind that everything is set up and you’re doing a good job authenticating emails and being trusted as a sender by email service providers like Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft.

We might also spot one or two records that could be changed to better monitor email deliverability and reputation in the future should anything change.
